Joshua and Alaina Owen

Entrepreneurship

Joshua is the On-field Mentor for Global U students. He has a track record of building, and launching technology startups. While obtaining a finance degree at the University of Arkansas, Joshua built out and launched two technology companies; Majest media a live video streaming platform for musicians, and the donor management and payment processor CauseOS.

Joshua is a former world race team and squad leader. He has experience traveling and directing groups to build and launch value propositions for ministries around the world. His latest work developed a framework for launching national missionaries to plant churches in the unreached villages of southern India. Over 80 churches have been planted to date.

As a full-stack developer, Joshua is committed to giving students a leg up on his own higher ed experience, by delivering the quality technical know-how and mentorship for students to build and launch applications in a production environment.

Alaina is an On-field Mentor for Global U students. Her life on mission began with teaching children at her home church in Minnesota. After graduating from college, she took her love for teaching and discipleship abroad through the World Race, serving in Asia, Africa, and South America. Most recently, Alaina and her husband, Joshua, served with a church planting ministry in Southern India.

Alaina is a Registered Dietitian–Nutritionist and is committed to helping others improve their well-being through nutrition. She is inspired by how Jesus broke bread and shared meals with others in his ministry. Alaina has a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science from the University of Minnesota.
